I took a job down here in Philadelphia and got my B2B salesexperience up. I got a text message from the regionalsales manager, and my heart dropped because there wasn’t a lot of context around it. F irst question, what is the best book you’ve read in the last six months? It’s a great book.
I pitched it to my manager at the time, Steve Carmody, who is my RegionalSales Manager. He had an unbelievably successful sales leadership career. He built high-performance teams and wrote a great book called The Point Guard Approach , which is available anywhere you can buy books online. It’s a great book.
I work with territory managers and regionalsales managers. What is the best book you have read in the last six months? I’m mostly reading instruction manuals and stuff to learn, but at night, I’ll hit up an Audible book. Why not find out what medical sales field makes sense for you? Are you ready?
The great part about it is the sales reps work with the district sales manager. I work more with the regionalsales managers and the district sales managers than I do with the sales reps. We have people on our team who had zero salesexperience prior to coming in. It’s all open.
I turned it sideways and said, “My name is Jacob, I’m a personal trainer and I want to break into medical device sales.”. Tell everybody what book they can find this in. I have two books. I also wrote a book Guide For Breaking Into Medical Device Sales. This is documented. That doesn’t happen.
I have salesexperience. My first formal job was as a sales associate at Sears. That’s what great sales consultants and reps can do. We all know what the markets were doing in 2008. Once again, I was extremely fortunate, and my mindset was a little bit different. I have always had an entrepreneurial drive.
